Probably the most important thing we want you to know is that we are part of a family of neighborhood churches called the Mile High Vineyard.
The Mile High Vineyard Story
In September 2001, Jay and Danielle Pathak moved to Arvada, Colorado from Columbus, Ohio with a team of 14 others to start a community of people that would seek and follow Jesus together. They came from the Columbus Vineyard, where Jay was on staff with its young-adult congregation, Joshua House. Having seen Joshua House grow from a small group of 10 people into a congregation of nearly 1,000 young adults, Jay and Danielle knew there was potential for similar growth in Arvada as people fell more and more in love with Jesus.
We started with only three small groups in the fall of 2001 and held our first Sunday service on Easter in 2002. We met for monthly services through Christmas Eve, 2002 and then began weekly services each Sunday evening in Olde Town Arvada. Morning services began in the fall of 2004.
In late 2009, we changed our name from the Vineyard Community Church to the Mile High Vineyard after we became convinced that God had called us to plant local Vineyard churches in neighborhoods all across the city. Our commitment to neighborhood churches is simple: we believe people ought to be able to attend, and to invite their neighbors to a church that's located in the neighborhood where they live, shop, work and play. Though each church has it's own local church pastor, we also believe we are better together; therefore, we've our local church pastors are connected through relationship with one another, through shared resources, and a shared heart for the city. Presently, Mile High Vineyard family of neighborhood churches is made up of four churches: Arvada Vineyard, East Denver Vineyard, Westminster Vineyard and us the Lakewood Vineyard. In 2017 we started a non-profit called Neighborhood City Collective to help connect and plant churches across denominations all over the Denver area. NCC Denver currently serves 6 churches across the city.
The Lakewood Vineyard Story
In the Fall of 2011, Christian and Bridget Summers returned to Denver after working as missionaries in the Philippines. With incarnational ministry and church planting embedded on their hearts, they begin exploring and praying over planting a unique church in the southwest part of the city. During this time they got connected with Mile High Vineyard. Over the next few years Christian came on staff to lead Sunday service teams and connect ministry as he begin building a core group of people with a vision of planting a new church that reflected the DNA of MHV. During that time, small groups begin multiplying and growing into a strong group that would launch the Lakewood Vineyard in the Fall of 2015. Our heart is to be a vibrant reflection on the love of Jesus and his Kingdom in the South West part of Denver.
